Our Own Karen Pollack Wins 2017 Excellence Award From Mass-ALA

by / Wednesday, 06 September 2017 / Published in News/Blog

Karen Pollack, Director of Community Relations at Springhouse Senior Living, was named a recipient of the Sales and Marking Excellence Award by the Massachusetts Assisted Living Association (Mass-ALA) at the organization’s annual Excellence Awards Dinner on May 8, 2017. The awards are presented each year to individuals at every level of assisted living who have demonstrated their desire to make a positive difference in the lives of residents and who, in the view of their peers, stand out as role models in the industry.

In her role at Springhouse Senior Living, Karen introduced the LGBT Aging Project, providing additional training to staff to help them further embrace the elder LGBT population, and ensure LGBT residents are comfortable in the assisted living community. Karen was instrumental in presenting what the community learned from the LGBT Aging Project at a national conference in 2016. Pollack also introduced Harvard University’s Alzheimer Buddies program to Springhouse’s memory care neighborhood, bringing volunteer students to Springhouse as the first assisted living community to benefit from the program. Pollack cares deeply about the health and safety of all elders, and takes the time to educate herself, and others, about the programs and resources that benefit the elder community.

The Sales and Marketing Award recognizes a sales or marketing professional who excels at promoting their community through the use of innovative, creative sales and marketing techniques, and grows relationships with residents, families and key referral sources. This individual has a track record of collaborating and communicating well with other team members as well as external stakeholders to contribute to the overall success of their community.
