At Springhouse Senior Living, we pride ourselves on the bonds we create with our residents. Whether that is through caregiving, art, songs, or writing, staff and residents are always finding new ways to relate to each other. Crocheting with Cori is just one example of that.
Pictured is a resident with Activity Coordinator, Cori Keto, with a purse she crocheted for the resident. Cori created this purse after spending hours sitting and talking with the resident-only to find out that she lacked a vessel to put her trivial things into. Cori then took the time to crochet a small purse in shades of the resident’s favorite color, blue!
Recently, the resident approached Cori with the biggest smile on her face to show off her purse filled with Rummikub game pieces! Moments like these are so meaningful at Springhouse, it is a gift beyond words. This proves that our staff does not just ‘show up’ to work, they perform their duties and even find themselves unexpectedly creating bonds with the residents and even their families.
It has been rewarding to both residents and staff to finally reconnect after the “covid tough times.” We have all learned so much about ourselves. We are discovering the new hobbies we adopted during covid; from crocheting to poetry to wordle. What have you discovered?
