Springhouse Senior Living has contracted with OmniCare CVS pharmacy program to provide the COVID-19 vaccine to all staff and residents of assisted living at Ledgemont and memory support at Allen House. CVS will administer both doses of the vaccine here at Springhouse to our residents at NO COST. Dose number one will be available in January – we are waiting on the exact date. We are highly recommending that everyone get vaccinated and we are extremely lucky for this opportunity as the general public will not have acess to the vaccine until at least summer 2021.
We are so fortunate to be counted in Phase 1 of the vaccine roll out. This vaccine with require two immunizations twenty one days apart. We are excited that we are able to bring this program to our residents. As soon as we have the final dates, we will inform all residents and families.
FACT: COVID-19 vaccines will not give you COVID-19
None of the COVID-19 vaccines currently in development in the United States use the live virus that causes COVID-19. There are several different types of vaccines in development. However, the goal for each of them is to teach our immune systems how to recognize and fight the virus that causes COVID-19. Sometimes this process can cause symptoms, such as fever. These symptoms are normal and are a sign that the body is building immunity
It typically takes a few weeks for the body to build immunity after vaccination. That means it’s possible a person could be infected with the virus that causes COVID-19 just before or just after vaccination and get sick. This is because the vaccine has not had enough time to provide protection. The vaccine is a two step vaccination, you will need a second vaccine 21-28 days after the first.
