As part of Senior Palooza and the pursuit of intergenerational programming, the 6th grade history class at Sacred Heart Roslindale interviewed four World War II veterans from Springhouse. BNN filmed this segment as part of the program The Next One Up: Intergenerational Conversation.
In this program, Springhouse residents shared memorabilia such as their war medals, uniform cap, photos in uniform, and photo books with the Roslindale students. The four veterans in this segment Mel Clere, Joe Kirdahy, Clint Matthews, and Sylvia Meyer shared their stories about their quality of life and experiences while serving in World War II. This show was moderated by Glenn Williams and aired on Comcast Channel 9 and RCN Channel 15 on several occassions.
This program is a collaboration with Senior Palooza, a series of informative activities in the Boston area specifically for elders and their support circles to celebrate Older Americans Month in May. Senior Palooza is hosted by Ethos, a private, non-profit organization dedicated to promoting independence, dignity and well-being among the elderly and disabled through quality, affordable and culturally-appropriate home and community-based care.
